چکیده
Abstract. We consider the nucleation of one-dimensional stochastic Cahn-Hilliard dynamics with the standard double well potential. We design the string method for computing the most probable transition path in the zero temperature limit based on large deviation theory. We derive the nucleation rate formula for the stochastic Cahn-Hilliard dynamics through finite dimensional discretization. We also discuss the algorithmic issues for calculating the nucleation rate, especially the high dimensional sampling for computing the determinant ratios.

Nucleation Rate Calculation for the Phase Transition of Diblock Copolymers under Stochastic Cahn-Hilliard Dynamics
We focus on the nucleation rate calculation for diblock copolymers by studying the two-dimensional stochastic Cahn–Hilliard dynamics with a Landau–Brazovskii energy functional. To do this, we devise the string method to compute the minimal energy path of nucleation events and the gentlest ascent dynamics to locate the saddle point on the path in Fourier space. Both methods are combined with the...
متن کاملBubbles interactions in the cahn-hilliard equation
We study the dynamics of bubbles in the one dimensional Cahn-Hilliard equation. For a gas of diluted bubbles we find ordinary differential equations describing their interaction which permits us to describe the ulterior dynamics of the system in very good agreement with numerical simulations.
متن کاملApplication of the Local DiscontinuousGalerkinMethod for the Allen-Cahn/Cahn-Hilliard System
In this paper, we consider the application of the local discontinuous Galerkin method for the Allen-Cahn/Cahn-Hilliard system. The method in this paper extends the local discontinuous Galerkin method in [10] to the more general application system which is coupled with the Allen-Cahn and Cahn-Hilliard equations. Similar energy stability result as that in [10] is presented. Numerical results for ...
متن کاملThe Cahn-Hilliard-Cook Equation on Curved Surfaces in Three-Dimensional Space
Abstract Phase separation and coarsening is a phenomenon commonly seen in binary physical and chemical systems that occur in nature. One model which takes into account additive stochastic noise is the Cahn-Hilliard-Cook (CHC) model. Often, the surface on which phase segregation occurs is not a flat surface. With this motivation, we present a semi-implicit numerical algorithm to solve the fourth...
متن کاملBranch Interactions and Long-term Dynamics for the Diblock Copolymer Model in One Dimension
Diblock copolymers are a class of materials formed by the reaction of two linear polymers. The different structures taken on by these polymers grant them special properties, which can prove useful in applications such as the development of new adhesives and asphalt additives. We consider a model for the formation of diblock copolymers first proposed by Ohta and Kawasaki [26]. Their model yields...
